I am transferring all of the recipes from my soon to be defunct food blog to this blog! Here's a good one!
There’s lots to love about this recipe!
First…chocolate!
Second…as if there needs to be a second…it’s made with pantry/fridge staples.
Third…it reminds me of my childhood, which I realize doesn’t mean much to you For what it’s worth, my mom made these a lot, and the smell is very nostalgic for me.
While the nostalgia factor won’t make you want to make this, the chocolate cloaked in a delicate shortbread crust sure will win you over!
Chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk are melted together and sandwiched between a delicate shortbread crust and topping.
Ingredients
2 cups flour
¾ cup sugar
½ teaspoon salt
¾ butter
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a medium bowl. Cut butter into combined ingredients with a pastry blender. OR, freeze butter and shred like you would shred cheese and blend it into the dry ingredients with your fingers. I do it the freezing way!
Press ⅔ of the mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan that you've sprayed with nonstick spray.
In a small microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk together. This takes about a minute in the microwave. Stir until smooth.
Pour the chocolate mixture on top of the bottom crust.
Sprinkle the remaining crust mixture on top and lightly press.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned.
Cool, cut, and enjoy!
And, in case you were wondering, the edges are the best!
